Before Using


How do I know the water is clean?

In Western Australia, float studios are regulated under the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1911 and the Health (Aquatic                  Facilities) Regulations 2007. The Department of Health sample the float pod water regularly to ensure water quality.

 A Dreampod float pod is the most technologically advanced float pod on the market and is equipped with multiple innovative                 features to ensure hygiene of the water.

The main filter device is a custom-built stainless steel enclosure holding a replaceable five micron filter bag. The filtration system is        capable of filtering debris in the water as small as one twentieth the size of the diameter of a human hair.

A swimming pool recycles or cleans all the water in the pool once every five hours. A Dreampod float pod cleans the water in four          minutes (eight times between each float).

Water is pumped by a UV light array, eliminating any micro-organisms that might survive the extreme salt content of the water.

The Dreampod is the first float pod to feature a dual sanitizer injection system, allowing the operator to use a combination of any           two disinfectants. This highly sophisticated system allows us to automatically pre-set dosing schedules.


Can everyone use a float pod?

Unfortunately, no. For your own safety, the following people cannot use a float pod:

People with epilepsy where the epilepsy is not under medical control.

People under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

People with infectious diseases or open skin wounds.

People with type 1 diabetes unless they consult with their doctor. High levels of magnesium are absorbed trans-dermally through the      skin when you float, which potentially affects hormone levels (including insulin). Magnesium can be very beneficial for diabetics but, in rare cases, adverse effects might occur.

Children under the age of 12 years, unless supervised by parent/guardian.

If you have recently coloured your hair please wait at least one week before coming in.


Can pregnant women use the pod?

Yes. Many pregnant women use float therapy to alleviate the back and body pain caused by the pregnancy. However, if you are    in your third trimester, we recommend consulting with your doctor prior to floating.


Can I use the tank if I'm menstruating?

Yes, if you use a tampon.


What do I need to bring?

Just bring a hair brush. We provide towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, ear plugs, Vaseline (for skin cuts) and hair dryers. 


Can I shave before the float?

If you shave two or three hours before floating, the shaved skin will sting for a few minutes. If you can postpone your shaving, you will probably be more comfortable.


Can I wear contact lenses while floating?

It is recommended to remove your contact lenses before each float.


Can I eat before I float?

You can eat. If you eat a very heavy meal you may spend a lot of time in the float pod listening to your digestive juices. On the other hand, if you are very hungry in the float pod you may spend a lot of time listening to your digestive juices. Moderation works. 


Can I drink coffee or Coke before I float?

Try not to have either on the day of your float. The caffeine will restrict your ability to mentally and physically relax during your session.


Do you wear anything in the POD?

Nothing. You float naked in your own float pod in your own private room. If you are not comfortable floating naked, you are welcome to wear bathers.



Yes. It is impossible not to float in the tank. The half a tonne of Magnesium Sulphate dissolved in the water make the solution denser than the Dead Sea and your body is pushed to the surface like a cork. Your face is out of the solution and your ears are underwater.


During My Float


Will my hair and skin be OK?

The magnesium sulphate solution is very beneficial to the skin (you will notice how soft and supple your skin feels after the float).

Magnesium sulphate promotes hair growth, strengthens hair and reduces oiliness of the scalp. After the float, thoroughly rinse the salt from your body and hair, and make sure you use the shampoo and condition.  


Is it safe to sleep in the float pod?

Yes! The more relaxed you are in the float pod, the greater the mental and physical health benefits.


Is there a right way to float?

Yes. Once you are lying in the float pod, and you think that your neck is relaxed, test your neck again. Most people will automatically hold their neck rigid during the first float because they are used to having to hold it when floating in a swimming pool. If your neck is relaxed, your ears should be under water, and the water should sit around your hairline. You are however welcome to experiment with different floating positions. 


What if I'm claustrophobic?

Dreampod float pods are now being used to treat people with claustrophobia. This is because intellectually you know that you       are in an enclosed space, yet mentally it feels like a very large and spacious area.

You have full control of the float pod at all times. You can open and shut the lid, turn the light on and off and get into and out       of the float pod as much as you want throughout the session. Some people even float with the lid wide open.


Is there enough air in the pod?

Yes. The tank is designed not to be airtight, so there is a plentiful air supply. 


Can two people float in the tank at the same time?

No. One float pod accommodates one person at a time. However, you can book two separate float pods for two separate people at the same time.


The Nature of a Float

How long do people usually stay in the tank?

The first time we usually schedule an hour. Some people find 2 or 3 hour sessions very valuable. Of course the "perfect" way is to stay in until you want to get out. You may be able to arrange if there are no bookings after yours. Experiment with your own time in the tank to discover what is best for you. 


What will it be like for me?

We don't know what it will be like for you since it is such an individual experience. The most common reports are profound peace and relaxation, deep concentration and creativity.We like to avoid saying too much before people use the tank, so that they aren't influenced by what someone else says. Not only will it be different for you than it is for anyone else, it will be different each time.


Do I need to float more than once?

Yes, if you want to make use of the potential. For us floating is not a finite experience. It touches the infinite. Most people, but not all, get a sense of what floating will be like after they float 3 to 5 times.Those who see the potential the first time, want to return again and again.


Is there a best time to use the tank?

No.This is a matter of individual preference. Some people prefer morning, some prefer night. The best way to find out is to experiment by using the tank at different times of the day.


Will I be able to resume my daily activities when I get out?

Yes. And it may be good to arrange your time so you don't have to rush. Many people enjoy savouring the peace and quiet before jumping into something hectic.
